A New Financial Year. A New Chapter!

Yo yo yo! Reader,

This week marked the end of one financial year and the beginning of another.

I always find this time exciting.

Not because the calendar changes...

But because it gives you permission to reset.

The lessons stay.

The mistakes stay.

The experience stays.

But mentally, you get to start from zero again.

And that's exactly where my head has been this week.

The Snapshot

This week was all about transition.

We:

  • Wrapped up FY26.
  • Officially started operating under our new company structure.
  • Had another STRONG week with over $17,000 in sales.
  • Crossed $170,000 in rolling 90-day revenue for the first time.
  • Received another 580kg clothing delivery.
  • Locked in new pallet racking.
  • Continued expanding our eBay Live operation.
  • Worked on several new consignment opportunities.

The business never really slowed down...

The focus simply shifted.

Behind The Scenes

People often think growth comes from doing more.

Sometimes it actually comes from creating space.

This week we spent countless hours reorganising the warehouse.

  • Moving stock.
  • Installing better storage.
  • Preparing for incoming inventory.
  • Updating paperwork.
  • Changing accounts.
  • Setting up reporting.

None of those things directly generate sales.

But every one of them makes future growth possible.

Sometimes the highest-value work isn't the work customers ever see.

The Lesson

You Don't Need Cheaper Stock.

You Need Better Decisions.

One question this week really stood out.

Someone asked:

"Where do you find good branded clothing at a fair price?"

It's a question almost every reseller asks.

When I started, I thought success came from buying things as cheaply as possible.

Now I think completely differently.

A "fair price" isn't the cheapest price.

A fair price is one that still leaves room for profit after considering demand, sell-through speed, condition, and your ability to sell it.

I'd much rather pay more for inventory that sells consistently than buy cheap stock that sits for months.

The goal isn't to spend less.

The goal is to buy better.

Because better stock usually creates better customers.

What I'm Thinking About

FY27 feels very different.

Not because the business changed overnight...

But because the strategy has.

For the first time, I'm managing the business by revenue streams instead of simply one big number.

We're now tracking:

  • Core inventory
  • Consignment
  • Camera project
  • eBay Live
  • Wholesale
  • E-waste
  • Services

Every one of those has its own targets.

Its own purpose.

Its own opportunity.

The business is becoming far more intentional than it's ever been before.

Numbers Corner

A few milestones this week I'm incredibly grateful for:

Last Week

  • $17,269.05... our 2nd best week, after doing our best the prior!

90-Day Revenue

  • Crossed $170,000 for the first time. We are sitting on $175K right now

FY26 Results

  • Revenue: $534,000
  • Over 13,000 items sold
  • Approximately $40,000 operating profit after paying around $100,000 in staff wages and $40,000 back to consignors.

The number I'm probably most proud of isn't revenue.

It's the fact we've continued investing in people, infrastructure and growth while still finishing the year profitable.

The Bigger Picture

When I look back over the last five financial years, the numbers tell a pretty incredible story.

  • FY22: $69k
  • FY23: $119k
  • FY24: $206k
  • FY25: $376k
  • FY26: $534k

Every year has looked completely different.

Every year has required a different version of me.

And that's probably the biggest lesson.

You can't build tomorrow's business with yesterday's mindset.

Growth demands that you keep evolving.

That's exactly what FY27 is about.

Question Of The Week

If you had the opportunity to start again tomorrow...

...but you got to keep everything you've learned...

What would you do differently?

Because that's exactly what a new week, a new month, or a new financial year really gives us.

A fresh start.

With more wisdom than we had before.

Let's make this year count.

See you next week,

Chris

Yo yo yo! Reader, Some weeks you feel unstoppable. Other weeks feel like you're spending all your time reacting. This was one of those weeks. Trades didn't arrive when they were supposed to. Collections got delayed. Staff had family commitments. A camera return turned into a difficult customer situation. Rain made warehouse work harder than it needed to be. Even simple plans seemed to require three backup plans. A few years ago that would've completely thrown me. Now? It's just business. Also...

Yo yo yo! Reader, There's a funny thing that happens when your business grows. You spend years dreaming about having more opportunities… …and then one day you wake up and realise your biggest challenge isn't finding opportunities anymore. It's choosing which ones deserve your attention. That was this week. Also if you are needing a game changing legend of an accountant, Ethan is your guy! Yo yo yo! Reader, This week felt like a milestone. After weeks of planning, measuring, moving and reorganising, the new pallet racking finally went in. In less than an hour, one of the biggest operational projects we've tackled this year was standing in the warehouse and almost immediately, it started filling up. On the surface, it looks like shelving. In reality, it's capacity. Capacity for more stock. More consignments. More opportunities. More live shows. More moving parts. And judging by...
